Forgery

There are three degrees of Forgery. The degree is determined by the nature of the false instrument.

falsely making, completing or altering a written instrument with the intent to defraud, deceive or injure someone.

  • A deed, will, codicil, contract, assignment, commercial instrument, credit card,
  • A public record,
  • A government record,
  • Public transportation currency, or
  • A prescription.
  • Falsely making, completing or altering a written instrument with the intent to defraud, deceive or injure someone when the instrument is:
  • Money, stamps, securities or other valuable instruments issued by a government, or
  • Stock, bonds or other instruments representing interests in or claims against a corporation.
